About
A placeholder profile page for testing hierarchy, portrait placement, and page rhythm
About Me
My name is Mathieu, I am 41, and I write C++ for a living. In this mockup phase, that sentence is doing double duty: it stands in for the eventual bio, and it also gives us a compact paragraph for tuning line length, spacing, and the rhythm between headings and body text.
I was born in France so, by the usual cliches, I am apparently contractually obliged to care about wine and pastries. The placeholder version is happy to lean into that just enough to keep the page from feeling dead while the real copy is still taking shape.
Outside work I enjoy coding, automating things, photography, cinema, role-playing games, and video games. This is also a convenient pile of nouns for testing how a personal page sounds when it is lightly conversational instead of purely resume-like.
Work
I have worked across a fairly mixed set of domains, ranging from kernel programming to web development, financial software, databases, and video games. For the purposes of the mock site, that spread is useful because it lets the page feel specific without committing yet to a final tone or amount of detail.
My current favorite subject is performance in game programming. Even as placeholder copy, that gives the page a center of gravity and a sentence that feels like it belongs to an actual person rather than a lorem ipsum generator.
This Site
This page is intentionally still a mockup. The goal for now is to exercise the visual system: an oversized title, a portrait, a few sections, and prose blocks long enough to show what the final reading experience might feel like.
Once the structure feels right, this content can be swapped out for the real thing with very little effort. Until then, it is mostly here to help us judge typography, spacing, and how personal pages sit next to articles, post indexes, and short rants.
The site is also proudly GDPR compliant by the deeply sophisticated method of not tracking you at all. No cookies, no analytics dashboard, no creepy little heatmap, and no meeting where anyone pretends this is a sacrifice.
